[Media] Featured in Peace Post Asia — Covering the Inaugural Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards, Manila, March 2019

Peace Post Asia — the international news publication founded by Sir Billy Chan, Chairman of the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation — covered the inaugural ceremony extensively across two separate articles in March 2019, and I am mentioned in both.

Peace Post Asia describes itself as bringing “a unique Asian perspective to international discussions of healthcare, medical education, and society that enhance peace.” Being featured in its pages, at the inaugural launch of the very Foundation I am now proud to serve as Director of UK and China Relations, is something I look back on with particular fondness.

Article 1: Sino 48 Global Medical Peace in Manila and Macao

The first article covered the 48th Sino Luso International Medical Forum and the 5th Sino Asia Pacific Medical Forum, which took place in Manila and Macao from 5 to 10 March in tandem with the inaugural launch of the Sino Phil Asia International Peace Award. Peacepost

The piece noted that assembled at the wreath-laying ceremony and 21-gun salute at the Rizal Monument were the inaugural laureates, including entrepreneur and philanthropist Mark Clayton from the United Kingdom, based in Zhuhai, China. Peacepost

Article 2: History Making with Rizal and Malacañan Palace Peace Visits & Talks

The second article provided the fullest account of the ceremony itself — the wreath-laying, the visit to the Presidential Malacañan Palace, and the Gala Dinner at the Makati Shangri-La. In his welcome address, Chairman Sir Billy Chan singled out the laureates by name, saying of me: “Like this young man here, Mr. Mark Clayton of the United Kingdom. Mark came to China in 2005 as a fresh graduate to Guangdong province… In the city of Zhuhai, for nearly eight years now he has run a regional music charity festival, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Chinese orphans and autistic children.” Peace Post Asia

To have those words spoken publicly, at the inaugural launch of the Foundation, by Chairman Sir Billy Chan himself — a man who has dedicated his life to peace and philanthropy across Asia — is something I will always be grateful for.
