[Media] “Mark Clayton Named Laureate for CTC Charity Efforts” — cityofzhuhai.com
In April 2019, English-language news portal cityofzhuhai.com — the City of Zhuhai’s official international news platform — ran a story announcing my recognition as a 2019 Peace Award Laureate by the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards Foundation.
The report announced that Come Together Community’s founding board member Mark Clayton of Zhuhai had become a 2019 Peace Laureate upon receiving the Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Award in the Field of Philanthropy, with the news announced on April 11. Cityofzhuhai
The article described my background — arriving in Zhuhai in 2005 from Hexham, England, building a career in finance and manufacturing with C2W Group, and co-founding CTC to raise funds for underprivileged children and those with developmental conditions in the region.
It also quoted what I said at the Gala Award Ceremony in Manila: that the award recognised the continued hard work of everyone in the CTC over the years, and that it would make all of us in the community come together and work even harder to give all children the best start in life that we can.
For me, seeing this covered in Zhuhai — my home city — mattered every bit as much as the international coverage. CTC was built for this community, by this community. That the city’s own news platform took note felt like a quiet but meaningful acknowledgement of that.
